What to look for
It is very difficult to tell whether a horse has a worm burden. Even healthy horses are affected by worms and the signs are sometimes sub clinical (difficult to see). As a result of this, it is important to worm or test all horses regularly and tactically.
It is more often the more severe cases where symptoms are seen, the signs being:
Loss of condition |
Loss of weight |
Poor appetite |
Diarrhoea |
Lack of energy |
Colic |
Swelling of the legs and stomach |
Swelling of the sheath |
